Hong Kong and China equity exposure differentiated 2020 winners and losers
MPF Ratings’ December MPF Scheme Net Returns Summary has now been uploaded on our website.
Key points of the report are as follows:
- Bronze rated Haitong MPF Retirement Fund returned 23.0% in 2020, the best annual 1 year net return for 2020; a result of Haitong’s concentrated fund exposure of 44.7% to HK/China equities, almost double the industry exposure of 24.4%.
- Silver rated Sun Life MPF Master Trust produced the best monthly return in December, up 5.2% vs an industry median return of 3.4%.
- MPF assets ended 2020 at a record $1.139 trillion, an increase of $169.713 billion from 2019, and equating to an average MPF member account balance of $255,500, which is an increase of $33,400 from 1 year earlier.
