eMPF is here – What You Need To Know
The eMPF platform has officially launched, revolutionising how MPF schemes are managed. Developed by the MPFA, this centralised digital platform simplifies, standardises, and automates MPF administration, offering a more efficient experience for both members and employers.
Key Updates So Far:
- 15 MPF schemes onboarded with 8 trustees.
- 523,000 members registered (and counting).
- 740,000 app downloads.
With eMPF, members can:
- View and manage all MPF accounts in one place.
- Consolidate accounts and switch investment choices anytime.
- Make voluntary contributions with ease.
- Apply for withdrawals across schemes in one go.
For employers, eMPF simplifies the process by:
- Offering multiple e-payment options for contributions.
- Automating contribution calculations to save time.
- Providing e-reminders for due dates, reducing paperwork and errors.
The MPFA has been actively educating the public and employers about the transition. Outreach teams, hotlines, and webinars have been set up to support registration and introduce platform features. However, successful adoption also depends on scheme providers educating their members.
Supporting Members During the eMPF Transition
Manulife stands out as an example of an MPF scheme provider that is actively supporting its members during the transition to encourage early registration. They’ve taken several steps to ensure members are informed and prepared:
- Member Communications: In addition to compulsory mandatory communication packs, Manulife created a customised one-pager to summarise essential information for easier member access. As part of ongoing updates on the eMPF onboarding process, they launched a new monthly ‘Member eMPF Express’ to highlight the benefits of eMPF, onboarding dates, and how to use the platform usage, and provide eMPF registration reminders.
- Onboarding Details: For example, from November 6th (the target onboarding date*), Manulife members will manage their MPF through eMPF. Administrative instructions, such as contributions or withdrawals, will need to be submitted directly to eMPF instead of Manulife.
- Registration Reminders: Members can register for eMPF now to manage all their MPF accounts in one place. A valid Hong Kong Identity Card (HKID) is required for registration.
*The date of onboarding to the eMPF is subject to a legal notice published in the Gazette of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. In case of a subsequent adjustment, trustees will promptly communicate this to their members.
Facilitating a Smooth eMPF Transition
Manulife has also gone above and beyond with additional resources:
- Webinars: Manulife enhanced its regular MPF investment seminars and eMPF training sessions by inviting eMPF experts to deliver introductions and training for both members and employers. These sessions include live Q&A segments and practical tips for using eMPF.
- Educational Content: By utilising AI tools, Manulife efficiently produces a series of ‘Chat eMPF’ videos featuring bite-sized onboarding tips, cut-off dates, and timely reminders to facilitate the transition.
- eMPF registration: Manulife launched various promotional campaigns, both online and offline to encourage employers and members to register early and obtain their eMPF IDs.
We love scheme’s that proactively ensure a seamless experience for its members and employers. Change can be exciting with eMPF, and with the right guidance, it’s easier than ever to adapt. But how about if you’re with another scheme? You can register at any time on the eMPF website but also check your provider’s website resources for help. Ready to take control of your MPF? Let’s go!
